Harris Academy Chobham: Reflecting on a proud GCSE results day with excellent stand out successes
Students at Harris Academy Chobham are celebrating their GCSE results today with 70% Grade 4+ in both English and Maths and 58% Grade 5+ in both English and Maths. 73% of students achieved a 5+ in English.
Among those celebrating are Neha and Unita who both achieved a clean sweep of 9 Grade 9s each.
As an all through school, it is very rewarding to see the success of those whose entire educational journey has been at Chobham. Neha, Jesse and Richard (pictured below) from Newham, who were among the first ever students to join the academy when it opened a year on from the London Olympics, in 2013. Aged just five or six at the time, Neha, Jesse and Richard have been focused and hardworking ever since and are today celebrating 24 Grade 9s between them.

Jesse said:
“Time flies when you are having fun and it’s hard to imagine I have been at the same school since I was six! I have been given the opportunity to study such a great range of subjects, from Music to Mandarin, and I am so happy with my results. A big thank you to my teachers and my family for all their support!”
Francesca Perry, Executive Principal of the Academy, said:
“These students joined the academy when it opened and have stood out as stars ever since. Their supersonic intelligence impresses everyone who has ever met them. They are the true epitome of Chobham and we are so excited to see what they will achieve next.”
As an academy, we want to pay special tribute to Morgane who achieved some excellent results in her GCSEs despite overcoming severe adversity. She has been accepted into London’s Fashion Retail Academy.
Ms Perry said:
“Morgane spent the majority of Year 10 undergoing intensive treatment for cancer. Thankfully the treatment was successful and, when she returned to school, she approached her studies with unwavering determination. She worked tirelessly to catch up on missed learning, stayed behind after school to study, and persevered through every challenge to sit all of her GCSE exams. Morgane's resilience, positive attitude, and commitment to her education have inspired everyone around her.”
Commenting on the results of the year group more widely, Ms Perry added:
“Walking through the building this morning and seeing everybody’s happy faces is the best part of my year. We are thrilled with our results and our students are set for fantastic futures in sixth form and beyond.”
